"Death has come to your little town, Sheriff. You can either ignore it, or help me to stop it."
Sam Loomis to Leigh Brackett.[src]

Haddonfield is a small town located in the state of Illinois in the United States. It is the hometown of the infamous serial killer, Michael Myers, and the place he would murder three teenagers in, leaving Laurie Strode the only survivor.

Forty years after the attacks, Michael escaped from Smith's Grove Sanitarium and rampaged the town once again. After an attempt by Laurie to kill him, Michael angrily butchered many of the townspeople before finally being put down by her four years later, granting the town a somewhat hopeful future.

History

At some point before 1963, the small town of Haddonfield was established within Illinois, United States and became known as a sleepy town where nothing too interesting happened.

On October 31, 1963, the town's history was changed forever when six-year-old Michael Myers brutally murdered his sister, Judith, eventually being committed to Smith's Grove Sanitarium under the treatment of Dr. Sam Loomis. This event went on to haunt the town for years, becoming an urban legend told by children within the neighbourhood as they dared one another to venture into the old Myers house.

On October 30, 1978, a now twenty-one year old Michael Myers ended up escaping from Smith's Grove, returning to Haddonfield on Halloween night and proceeding to murder several innocent people, including teenagers Annie Brackett, Lynda Van der Klok, and Bob Simms. In the end, the combined efforts of Loomis, Officer Frank Hawkins, and the rest of the Haddonfield Sheriff's Department aided in capturing Michael that same night, taking him back into custody. Seventeen-year-old Laurie Strode ended up being the sole teenage survivor who became extremely traumatised from the attack after going head-to-head with Michael to protect Tommy Doyle and Lindsey Wallace.[1]

Over the next forty years following the 1978 massacre, the legend of Michael Myers continued to loom over the sleepy town, however, most residents attempted to move on with their lives, with Laurie Strode becoming infamous throughout the town for her crazed demeanour following her extreme trauma.

On October 30, 2018, exactly forty years following his last attack, Michael escaped from Smith's Grove once again during a transfer orchestrated by his new doctor, Ranbir Sartain. Upon escaping, Myers returned to Haddonfield and slaughtered hundreds of citizens, also going head-to-head with Laurie in an intense rematch. By the end of the night, the chaos had completely engulfed the town and Myers disappeared into the night, taking refuge in the sewers beneath the town.[2][3]

Over the next four years, the town of Haddonfield would continue to live in panic and paranoia that Michael would one day return on Halloween, however, he never would. Laurie would also attempt to put her past behind her and moved into the heart of the town alongside her granddaughter, Allyson. However, many residents of the town would put the blame on her for provoking Michael and ultimately causing his massacre.

On October 31, 2019, one year after the town's infamous second massacre, the ambitious young Corey Cunningham would take a babysitting job to save for college, looking after the young Jeremy Allen. However, in a horrible prank gone wrong, Jeremy died later that night after being thrown from the house's third story, making it seem Corey had pushed him. This led Corey to become a town pariah, being labelled as a psychopath for what they believed he had done.

In October 2022, Haddonfield would witness yet another series of killings, this time pulled off by a now unstable Corey Cunningham who had come into contact with Michael in the sewers and attempted to become almost a second incarnation of the boogeyman. Eventually, after several slayings and an attempt on the life of Laurie, Corey was put down by Michael himself, who recovered his mask and went after Strode and her family once again. However, she was finally able to overpower him, killing him in her home before all of Haddonfield stood by her side as she carried his corpse to a local dump, throwing him into a trash compactor and finally putting the legend of Haddonfield's boogeyman to rest and seemingly granting the town a hopeful future.
